The Department of Immunology, Genetics and Pathology at Uppsala University has a broad research profile with strong research groups focused on, among other things, cancer, genetic and autoimmune diseases. One of the core ideas at the department is to stimulate translational research and thus promote closer collaboration between medical research and healthcare. Research is conducted within six research programs: cancer precision medicine, cancer immunotherapy, genomics and neurobiology, molecular tools and functional genomics, neuro-oncology and neurodegeneration, and vascular biology. Parts of the operations are also integrated with the departments of oncology, clinical genetics, clinical immunology, clinical pathology, and hospital physics at Uppsala University Hospital. The department has teaching assignments in several program educations, independent courses, and international master's programs within the medical faculty and the technical-nature science area. The department has a turnover of approximately 550 million SEK, of which about two-thirds are external research grants. The number of employees is about 400, of which about 100 are doctoral students, and there are over 850 active in the workforce. Job Responsibilities

You will work with stimulating and varied tasks in an international environment. The position entails significant personal responsibility for the daily work, which includes all financial administration for a number of specific research groups. You will independently be responsible for budgeting, following up, analyzing, and presenting financial results to the research group leader, as well as reporting research projects to external funders and clients, according to the specific rules that apply to the university as a government agency and for each respective funder.

The tasks also include year-end closing, ongoing accounting, accounts receivable and payable, and other recurring tasks within finance. You will work under the guidance of the administrative manager for finance and the finance coordinator, in close collaboration with researchers and other staff within the administration.

Qualifications

  • Higher education/university degree with a focus on accounting or equivalent competence deemed equivalent by the employer.
  • Experience of qualified work in accounting.
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish and English in speech and writing.
  • Very good knowledge of Microsoft Office, primarily Excel.
  • Communicative, structured, and service-oriented.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability. You are meticulous and have a natural inclination for good service. It is important that you can work both independently and in collaboration with others, and that you have a desire to contribute to a positive work environment. To succeed in this role, you need to be able to handle complex issues and work on multiple tasks simultaneously. Curiosity and the ability to independently seek information are also important qualities.

About the Employment

The employment is permanent, with a probationary period applicable. The extent is full-time. Start date according to agreement. Location: Uppsala.
